This Monday, the project "National Baccalaureate for all. My right, my place!" was officially launched during a ceremony held at the National Palace. In this context, the rector of the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM), José Antonio De los Reyes Heredia, revealed an important announcement. It is a project to implement a preferential or automatic passage for students from the College of Baccalaureate (Colbach).
During his intervention at the event, alongside President Claudia Sheinbaum, the rector mentioned the development of an academic project in conjunction with the Baccalaureate. The purpose of the project is to strengthen the historical relationship between both institutions, considering that 23% of the student community and graduates of the UAM come from the College of Baccalaureate. In this sense, in 2024, the percentage of students admitted to the UAM from the Baccalaureate reached 35%, as indicated by De los Reyes Heredia.
The scheme aims to fulfill the commitment to guarantee an education of excellence, recognizing that academic training is fundamental for national development. In this context, the project will benefit students from the College of Baccalaureate, granting them a regulated passage to enter UAM's degree programs. It should be emphasized that this new scheme will not replace the selection exam of the regular admission process of the UAM, which will be carried out according to established regulations.
Rector De los Reyes Heredia highlighted: "This scheme will allow, for example, outstanding students from the College of Baccalaureate to preferentially enter the undergraduate level of the UAM in its five University Units: Azcapotzalco, Cuajimalpa, Iztapalapa, Lerma, and Xochimilco." Although not all program details are known yet, it is expected that graduates from Colbach will have priority in the admission process.
